Holder of the Chair in Tourism and Director of the Tourism Intelligence Network, Paul Arseneault is also director of undergraduate programs, tourism and hotel management, and a professor of tourism and business management in the Department of Urban Studies and Tourism at the UQAM School of Management (ESG UQAM).

He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management of the University of Angers (ESTHUA). His teaching and research focus primarily on organizational strategy, the development of tourist destinations and organizations, and the political and administrative framework surrounding the tourism industry.

He has worked in the industry for 25 years. A born entrepreneur, he started his own consulting firm specialized in tourism and culture—Pensum Conseil—at the age of 25. In 1998, he became the senior partner of Groupe DBSF. Over the course of his career, he has directed and contributed to some one hundred research and consulting projects. Mr. Arseneault has consulted for many private companies, tourism associations, regional associations and government bodies.

A member of the board of directors of the Olympic Installations Board, he also sat on the board of the Quartier des spectacles Partnership from 2012 to 2014 and that of Kéroul from 2011 to 2015. In 2010, the Quebec Minister of Tourism appointed him to the Tourism Industry Performance Committee, chaired by Gilbert Rozon.

An excellent communicator and educator, he is regularly in demand as a guest speaker, group leader and trainer. He is often interviewed by national media, both print and electronic, about current trends in tourism.
